School Visit

We set out with a simple goal, to introduce the children of Mangrove Cay to a ray found in the waters surrounding Andros, the smalltooth sawfish! We hoped to spark or grow the children’s interest with the ocean by talking passionately about one of the world’s most endangered elasmobranchs!

Kristen and Sarontaa talked about some of the sharks and rays found in The Bahamas, in addition to introducing them to the topic of shark research. They ignited the children’s imaginations with their stories and fun facts about sawfish and ended their talk by gifting the children coloring sheets and crayons. Children are the future for our oceans and we hope our talks and presentations help to not only inspire them to learn more about the worlds incredible marine life, but also protect them, and their habitats.
