- FAHLO’S SUPPORT AND IMPACT ON OUR RESEARCH -
We want to express our gratitude for the on-going support provided by Fahlo allowing us to continue our research efforts directly contributing towards marine conservation. Fahlo has become a trusted partner and their generous contributions towards reaching our scientific objectives allowed us to further develop and expand our always growing research projects.
Fahlo’s contributions are supporting three major research projects across three countries and many different species. Not only have data generated from Fahlo-supported projects being used in national stock assessments but they will also keep providing results for studies examining the ecology of highly mobile, large-bodied shark species and thus are directly benefitting their effective management.
Finally, through their bracelets the opportunity to follow our sharks in near real-time is possible and Fahlo offer everyone to become part of the shark research community and provides a platform to inspire the next generation of ocean conservationists.
- FAHLO’S IMPACT ON ASPIRING SHARK SCIENTISTS -

IN THE SPOTLIGHT
- Emily Spurgeon -
Emily is currently a PhD candidate at Florida International University under the primary advisement of Dr. Yannis Papastimatiou and Saving the Blue’s Dr Tristan Guttridge. Her research focuses on the movement and residency patterns of large coastal sharks in The Bahamas and across eastern Florida. A substantial number of the sharks tagged with Saving the Blue is a direct result of the ongoing support from Fahlo.
“Fahlo’s support allows us to keep science moving forward by asking big questions about threatened and vulnerable species and collecting the data we need to protect them in a changing ocean.”
- Shane Molander -
Marine Biologist Shane Molander first joined a Saving the Blue Andros expedition back in 2024 and returned in 2025 to assist the team once again, this time for ten days of research in Jupiter, Florida. Both trips were generously funded by Fahlo. Shane impressed the entire Saving the Blue team and is currently in the development stage of securing a PhD with Saving the Blue and the Florida International University. His PhD will include satellite tagging Tiger Sharks many of which will be funded by Fahlo.
“Fahlo has already played a key role in the early stages of my dissertation research. Thanks to both Saving the Blue and Fahlo, I am excited to take a deep dive into how Tiger Sharks use key habitats and how these large predators interact with their prey. I’m incredibly grateful for their support and look forward to continuing this work in the near future.”
