! NEW ! ADVANCE TIGER SHARK ADOPTION
!NEW PROJECT ALERT! - Satellite tagging Tiger sharks!
As we currently have no satellite tagged tiger shark adoptions to offer, we are offering you the opportunity to support our research with an advanced adoption.
With this $1750 donation (the cost we pay for the tag), you will be automatically given the privilege of adopting and naming the next tiger shark we catch and tag with a SPOT (satellite) tag! We have no timeline as to when this will happen, but believe it will most likely be in the next four-nine months. If you buy this adoption you will be the first in line for a tiger shark adoption as we’re only offering this adoption to one person in advance.
About this shark
As the shark hasn’t been caught yet we do not know if it will be female or male or if your shark will be caught in Andros, The Bahamas, Florida, USA or Mexico.
About this adoption
Your shark will be fitted with a 12 to 18 month SPOT (Smart Position or Temperature Transmitting) tag, aka Satellite tag! The SPOT tag records and stores water temperature and transmits to Argos satellites each time the shark surfaces giving us a location. On adoption we’ll provide the sex of your shark and rough information on your sharks location/s, however we are unable to share exact data or location points.
In exchange for this adoption donation, you will have the privilege of naming him or her, you’ll receive an electronic adoption certificate, and we’ll excitedly reach out to you with regular updates as your shark surfaces (which provides us with his/her latest movements/location!).
General Information
Tiger sharks are truly stunning animals. When they are juveniles, their distinctive tiger stripes are crisp and vivid. As they mature, the pigment fades to become more of a hazy shimmer. Known for their size and fearsome appearance, they’ve been misjudged over the years, but tiger sharks are smart, charismatic, and full of personality! If you’re looking to adopt a true apex predator, a tiger shark is the one for you.
** There will be a photograph of your adopted shark, however it will likely be during the tagging process **
** Your adoption certificate will be sent as a PDF to your email address **
